ECVB Power Station

Eugène Dhuicque has been appointed to design this powerstation in 1913 by "Centrales Electriques de Flandres S.A.", established in 1911. The construction of the initial powerplant was completed in 1914. The company changed its name twice and the buildings were expanded with a new central between 1946-1953 and enlarged in 1957-1958 and 1973-1974. According to the only information I could find, the buildings depicted here (old part of a still active complex) were closed after 70 years of activity in 1984.

ECVB is the name of the company written on duct covers in front of the buildings and has nothing to do with the central. This name has been used to conceal its real name in order to protect it from sprayers, vandals and wannabe urban explorers.
