Internationale Film-Union (IFU) - Panacolor

The history of the IFU started with the foundation of the company Internationale Film-Union and the authorisation for the construction of the studios in the year 1947, near Remagen in Germany. The workers, craftsmen, engineers and architects realized the construction of the synchronization studio between May 1946 to September 1948. Despite the difficult conditions for material procurement at that time, they achieved an architectual masterpiece. This was the most modern studio of its time in Europe! The heart of the studio is a large hall, which was mainly used for music and voice recordings of large crowds as well as a cinema to show movie scenes to a larger audience. Since the founding of Panacolor, more than 800 films were synchronized, including French-Italian and American productions such as LOHN DER ANGST, DON CAMILLO UND PEPPONE and DICK UND DOOF. Hans-Jörg Felmy, Hildegard Knef, René Deltgen, Romy Schneider, Lotti Krekel, Fritz Wepper or Harald Juhnke and many others gave their voices for well-known films.  The studios were also used as a powerful film copying institution and definively closed in the year 1996.

The buildings of the IFU have been destroyed in 2009, that's why I mention it's real name here.
