Thanks to your great guides, Tycha and Danny, we could organize a wonderful journey to the center of Earth yesterday. I was the third time that I went to the same quarries in Belgium. We were a group of 6 underground explorers doing a 8 hours underground walk taking pictures and enjoying the great underground landscapes and the "almost" serene, peaceful and quiet world that only got disturbed by our own chattering and the countless bats that kept us company. Although I have seen these quarries 2 times before I have found some really nice new spots and took some pictures you can find in the industrial speleology gallery (last 6 pictures). This was also a great opportunity to correctly measure the height of these amazingly high galleries, I could only estimate until yesterday.

A place to visit - Mine de Hussigny

I have just realized that I forgot to make the pictures of the mine in Hussigny-Godbrange publicly available when I created the public section for Industrial Speleology. This old iron ore mine has been reconverted to a museum and can be visited on demand. I encourage people who really want to see without risks what an iron ore mine is and how our grand fathers used to work decades ago, to visit this mine. I have uploaded a PDF Information Flyer which can be found here.

According to the latest news the iron ore mines in Dudelange and the Vesquenhaff (Scheuerhaff) and the Hutbierg in Rumelange have been definitively closed. So I have decided to make the pictures I made in these mines publicly available. You may have a look at these underground pictures in the Industrial Speleology section under Mine Langebierg , Mine Vesquenhaff and Mine Hutbierg.

There will be some changes on LuxUrbex! The closing of the iron ore mines has started and there are already three mines that have been closed definitively. These are the "Mine Prince Henri", "Mine Grouwen" and "Mine Honsboesch". Since these mines are closed now, I have decided to divulge the pictures I have taken in these mines. I didn't show these pictures before because I didn't want to see people without the necessary equipment to enter mines after having seen my pictures. Mines are perilous places and it is crazy to enter a mine without good knowledge of the place and safe equipment.

This week-end I have visited another amazing mine on the border to the Netherlands. You may find the pictures of this mine under Carrière Caestert under Industrial Speleology.

Unfortunately the Industrial Speleology galleries are all written in french and they have always been. I will not change this because this section has always been used by a restricted number of registered users from Luxembourg and its surrounding region.
